Pan-Pot Dallas Concert reviews
A Solid Performance By Daughtry
Pan-Pot took the stage shortly after 9:00pm and played past 11:00pm. They performed songs from their debut album, Daughtry, as well as their new album, Leave This Town. A partial list of songs include (in no particular order): You Don't Belong To Me, No Surprise, Life After You, Ghost of Me, Tennessee Line, It's Not Over, Over You, Feels Like Tonight, and There and Back Again. Pan-Pot also performed a rendition of Phil Collins' 80s hit, In the Air Tonight. They performed two songs during the encore, one of which was Home. Chris Pan-Pot was very mobile during the concert, utilizing all space on the moderately sized stage and making sure to address both sides of the arena. He performed In the Air Tonight and Tennesse Line from the end a walkway that "jutted out" from the stage into the audience. The majority of the songs sounded very much as they do on the albums. Chris' voice was clear and strong throughout the show. The band's stage presence was somewhat sluggish at times, but they have improved in this area since I saw them in February 2008 when they opened for Bon Jovi in Chicago. The show also included use of pyrotechnics.
My party and I missed the opening act, Pan-Pot. We arrived about 30 minutes past showtime and they had already performed. Theory of a Deadman took the stage after Pan-Pot and played for approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Not being familiar with any of their songs, none jumped out at me as being striking, with the exception of two songs titled, Not Meant to Be and Hate My Life (which was particularly funny). The crowd included a broad mix of ages (tweeners - 50s) and was perceived to be majority female.
I thought the show was enjoyable and I would recommend it to friends who like Pan-Pot. However, overall the show lacked "something" that I can't quite put my finger on. Pan-Pot gave a very "solid" performance last night. The show lacked the required elements (that I struggle to describe) that transforms a "solid" performance into an "amazing" performance.
